I have to confess I enjoy more reading “books about programming” than “programing books, I love to nod every time the author talks about problems I had before in projects or about people attitudes I found everyday in the development world, hence this book title was eye candy to me.

This book is the second edition of the “My job went to India” book, in my opinion the title change was more than necessary, because passion is what every developer should have to thrive, not fear about lose the job.

The author (Chad Fowler) gives you a list of more than 50 ideas to rethink the way you are handling your career as programer, even if you are already in the market or if you are a newbie with a brilliant career as programmer ahead. If you find all the ideas cumbersome, the good news is that you don’t need to follow all recommendations, and probably you are already applying some of them.

If you are the kind of developer that see your job just as a income source, you might not enjoy this book so much as if you are really interested in your field, but this book will show you how at least keep up the pace with motivated developers.

By the time I write this entry, find a job as developer is relatively easy, but finding a position that you can enjoy, where you can learn and feel valuable by your boss and colleagues can be difficult journey, that’s why it is really interesting how the author focuses on build and market yourself as a brand and be a remarkable developer for your peers and community.

In conclusion read it and apply its ideas if you want to make a difference and take your career to the next level while having fun in the process.
